Nelson mandela

Nelson mandela, one of the most respected leaders of south Africa,is famous as the ideal leader all over the world. He fought for multiracial democracy in south Africa and became president in 1994.

Nalson mandela was born in 1918,son of a member of the royal house of the thembu tribe in umtata. He is called Madiba which is his clan name and an affectionate nickname. The schools mandela attended were modelled on the British education system. In 1942 he got the law degree from the university of the south Africa. As a young lawyer,he knew that his country was racially divided. His freedoms were strictly limited.

As mandela was dedicated to ending discrimination between the black and the white,he joined the african national congress in 1944. And in 1952 he became Deputy National president of the ANC. He advocated nonviolent resistance to apartheid. Therefore,he aimed at ending the apartheid system of racially based division and discrimination via peaceful means. But faced with the regimes increasingly brutal repression,he was charged with organizing an armed wing of the ANC. It happened because he organized a paramilitary branch of the party to carry out guerrilla warfare against the white government after a group of praceful demonstrators were massacred in 1960 in Sharpeville.

After months of working and living underground,Mandela was arrested in 1962. Tried for treason two years latter,he was sentenced to life imprisonment. Now there was not possibility of his parole. although he was imprisoned with the heavy security of the robben Island Prison in cape Town,he didn't give up his spirit. Then be became the leading symbole of South Africa's oppressed black community. His life partner winnie continued his work of the ANC. But she was also arrested, and imprisoned from 1969 to 1970.

White minority government of south Africa was compelled to release mandela as Freed Mandela became a rallying cry throughout the world. Therefre,he was freed in 1990 after 27 years. As he was representing the ANC,he made negotiations with the government that led to the first democratic elections 1994,and he was elected president for 5 years.and he was died on18 july 2013.

Alough Nelson mandela has been compelled to face with ups and downs in both of his political and private life,he is respected as the sacred soul of South Africa because he was able to introduce multiracial democracy there successfully and has become the father of the nation of South Africs.
